Water Based Systems

Hydrant and Spray Header Systems

This category of protection comprises of a dedicated pumping system that delivers water from a dedicated and reliable source. The purpose of this type of protection is overall protection of buildings, materials and equipment coming under the battery limit of the plant. This can be provided either through a common header system or a separated header system. The protection is done by means of hydrants, water monitors and hoses through which the water will be directed towards the specific hazard in case of any fire incident.

Spray / Sprinkler Systems (High Velocity & Medium Velocity Water Spray Systems)

  • High Velocity Water Spray System

High velocity water spray systems are installed to extinguish fire involving liquids with flash points of 65°C or higher. This system mainly works on the principle of emulsification, cooling and smothering. This type of system is mainly used for
transformers, turbo-alternators, oil fired boiler fronts & oil quenching tanks, etc.

      • Medium Velocity Water Spray System

Medium Velocity Water Spray Systems are installed to control burning and to provide cooling. This system is mainly used for fire involving flammable fluids having flash points below 65°C. This system is commonly used for HFO & LDO tanks, cable galleries, coal conveyors, etc.

  • Sprinkler System

Sprinkler systems are designed as per National Building Codes and NFPA-13 Standard for installation of sprinkler system

Gas Based Systems

Gas based system basically comes under fire suppression class and classified as Clean Agent based Gas Extinguishing System and CO2 based Gas Extinguishing Systems

Clean Agent Based Gas Extinguishing Systems

This system is mainly designed as per NFPA (NFPA-2001) recommendations according to which 13 gases are classified as clean agent gases. This type of system is commonly used for manned areas such as control rooms, control equipment rooms, computer & UPS rooms.

INDURE is providing the following gas extinguishing systems:

      • IG-001 (Argon)
      • IG-100 (100% Nitrogen)
      • IG-541 (Mixture of 3 Gases - 52% Nitrogen, 40% Argon and 8% Carbon Dioxide)
      • IG-55 (Mixture of 2 Gases - 50% Nitrogen and 50% Argon)

CO2 Based Gas Extinguishing Systems

This system is mainly used for unmanned areas like switchgear rooms, record rooms, battery rooms. The system is again classified as High Pressure CO2 System and Low Pressure CO2 System. The system is further sub-classified as total flooding type and local flooding type for specific application.

Foam Based Systems

Foam based system comes under protection category and commonly used for oil tanks. Following are the sub-classifications of foam system

      • Low Expansion Foam System: For protection of outdoor storage tanks, loading racks, diked areas and non-diked areas
      • Medium Expansion Foam System: For protection of Class A & B fires
      • High Expansion Foam System: For protection of Class A & B fires including LNG

INDURE is providing the following type of systems

      • Static Tank with Pumping System
      • Foam Proportioning Bladder Tank System

Fire Detection & Alarm Systems

Fire Detection and Alarm Systems are broadly classified into the following categories

      • Conventional Alarm System
      • Analogue Addressable Type Intelligent System

INDURE is providing both type of systems based upon the system requirement. This system includes automatic detection of fire which includes smoke, heat, gas leakage, thermal detection, etc. This system also includes manual and automatic signaling system with integration of other mechanical systems.

Codes and Standards

INDURE is using the following Codes & Guidelines in designing of the Fire Protection Systems.

      • TAC Tariff Advisory Manuals (Fire Protection Manual Hydrant System & Rules for Water Spray Systems)
      • NFPA-10 Standard for Portable Fire Extinguishers
      • NFPA-11 Standard for Low, Medium and High Expansion Foam
      • NFPA-12 Standard on Carbon Dioxide Extinguishing System
      • NFPA-13 Standard for Installation of Sprinkler System
      • NFPA-14 Standard for Installation of Standpipe and Hose System
      • NFPA-15 Standard for Water Spray Fixed System for Fire Protection
      • NFPA-20 Standard for Installation of Stationary Pumps
      • NFPA-24 Standard for Installation of Private Fire Services Mains and their Appurtenances
      • NFPA-850 Recommended Practice for Fire Protection of Electric Generating Plants and High Voltage Direct Converter Stations
      • NBC National Building Codes
      • IS Indian Standards
      • BIS British Standards
      • OISD Oil Industry Standard Directives

Engineering Capabilities

We have in-house engineering expertise in all areas and are manned by highly qualified and experienced engineering professionals.

Excellent CAD facilities which include PIPENET (Transient and Spray/Sprinkler Modules) for design & generating the engineering documents.

We have in the past successfully executed many fire detection & protection systems on turnkey basis as a part of EPC contracts for complete power plants and/or balance of plant packages. Apart from that we have successfully completed on turnkey basis the fire detection and protection system for Atomic Power Plant in Kota. At present we are executing a similar job for 2x800 MW Lara Thermal Power Plant of NTPC
